Bristol Guitar Teacher

I started playing the guitar at the age of seven and have not looked back since.. I played in bands at school throughout my teens and began teaching my first pupils while I was studying for my A levels to earn some extra money!

Being able to play the guitar has brought me many great experiences over the 40 years I have been playing, including opportunities to work with many amazing musicians, who have been a great influence and inspiration.

Some of my biggest achievements include, writing a piece of music for a Chinese orchestra, which was performed at the Arnolfini in Bristol, headlining the Glade stage at Glastonbury festival and headlining the prestigious Ashton Court Festival in Bristol. I have toured extensively through Europe and also represented Great Britain musically at the G8 summit in Japan.

I have recorded at some of the best recording studios in the country, including Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire and Peter Gabriel's Real World. I have released about ten records including six albums and had my music appear on television advertisements and films worldwide.

I released my third solo album in 2018 and also released an album with the Bristol-based improv/instrumental band HEXIT who I play guitar with.

For the past thirteen years I have taught guitar full-time in and around Bristol, during which time I have taught at some of the leading schools and colleges in the region alongside my private tuition.

As well as teaching, I am also a HCPC registered Music Therapist after recently completing an MA in Music Therapy at UWE in Bristol.

I currently play guitar with Bristol acts Dominions of Glue, Brutal Wounds and free improv duo Searle & Johnston.

Playing the guitar takes patience and dedication, but the rewards are immense. It can open a whole new dimension of living. I would not be without it.
